Strengthening Cybersecurity at Enerim: A Collaborative Approach

Cybersecurity is about people. At Splended, we believe that building strong security practices starts with building awareness, creating learning opportunities, and embedding security into everyday work. That’s why we were excited to collaborate with Enerim, a prominent system supplier in the energy industry, committed to the continuous development of cybersecurity practices to better safeguard its customers’ security assets. Our joint goal was to enhance their cybersecurity capability through a combination of workshops and coaching so that they can continue to surpass customer expectations.

Engaging over 50 professionals in cybersecurity workshops

To drive security awareness across Enerim, we conducted two interactive workshops, reaching over 50 professionals. These sessions were designed to engage, challenge, and equip participants with practical insights to strengthen security in their daily work.

Participants highlighted the value of the training, noting that it provided “a good recap on the subject” and that “with material, we will have a good, quick way to proper checklists to use in different phases of development.” The sessions were structured to ensure active engagement, with one attendee remarking that “there was discussion about various topics, and the trainer encouraged people to think and discuss the topics in relation to actual work performed in the company.”

Our partner, Fraktal, played a crucial role in delivering expert-led training, and their trainer, Juho Mitrunen, received encouraging feedback: “Trainer was very good and has excellent knowledge on the subject at hand.” Another participant praised the structure, stating that “a lot of things in a short time, but the training was well implemented with examples.” The interactive approach was particularly appreciated, with feedback such as “lessons and discussion in groups reminded what all security means.”

Coaching a center of excellence to drive lasting impact

Beyond workshops, we wanted to ensure that cybersecurity awareness became a sustainable practice within Enerim. To achieve this, we coached a Center of Excellence (CoE), empowering them to maintain an ongoing coaching practice that supports security learning across teams. Splended CEO Marjut Sadeharju led these coaching sessions, focusing on how people learn and how to create a culture where security is a shared responsibility, not just an IT concern. Juho coached the CoE on subject matter, ensuring clarity and focus in the future.

Participants also recognized the value of this ongoing learning approach, mentioning how they “got more ideas on how or where possible security issues might be in our current system and what should be taken into account from a testing perspective when testing new features.” Another participant appreciated the delivery style, stating, “The instructor was excellent, and the group exercises related to the topics were interesting.”

Building security into development projects

The ultimate goal of our collaboration was to integrate security into development projects, ensuring that high-security standards are upheld at every stage. The pace of the training was well-received, with feedback such as “Good pace and interesting nuances.” By combining expert training, interactive discussions, and internal coaching, Enerim is now better positioned to proactively address cybersecurity challenges while sustaining a security-first mindset across their teams.

A model for future cybersecurity initiatives

Our partnership with Enerim reinforced our belief that cybersecurity is most effective when it becomes part of the organisational culture. By using hands-on learning, coaching, and expert guidance, organisations can move beyond policies and truly embed security into their daily operations.

We’re proud to have been part of this initiative and look forward to continuing our work in helping companies build stronger, more resilient security practices.
